Objective 1.01 Remember the interior design profession and the design process

Essential Questions:  1.  What is interior design?  2.  What career options are in the design field?  3.  What are the different types of interior design?  4.  What are the steps in the design process? 

Warm-up:  Students will present careers they researched from the previous day as students take notes on their graphic organizers.

Activities:  1.  Have students use activity Cut and Paste Types of Housing and Design Download Cut and Paste Types of Housing and Design

to match up the different types of housing in each appropriate category: residential- single family, residential- multifamily, or commercial.  Extra Credit:  Imagine you are a commercial interior designer.  West Stanly High School has contacted you to build a new building that should include a gym, 2 health classroom, a meeting room, offices for the AD and 2  PE teachers, storage room for equipment, an indoor batting range and an indoor pool.  Sketch out how you would lay out the design.
