Interior Design I Syllabus
Welcome to Interior Design I. I am looking forward to a GREAT semester. I have high expectations for you and what you will be learning. This course is an important class that will teach you skills that you will use the rest of your life. This class is different from some of your other courses. You will have projects that correspond to your class material in this class. You will have also have deadlines that you will be responsible for meeting. If class behavior allows, I hope to do some exciting things! I expect 100% effort from each of you! There are some important things that you need to know that will make our year run smoothly and provide the best environment for you to learn.
CLASS EXPECTATIONS (RULES):
- Mutual respect for yourself and others
- Be at the appropriate place at the appropriate time with the appropriate materials
- Always do your best
- Follow all school rules

MATERIALS:
- 3-ring binder ( 1 ½ inches) with Loose-leaf notebook paper and Dividers
- Pens, pencils, highlighters, sharpie
- Magic Markers (optional)
- Ruler (optional)
- Colored Pencils (optional)
- Glue Sticks (optional)
- 1 plastic shoebox size container – to keep all your materials in (optional)
GRADING SYSTEM:
- Attendance/Participation 10%
- Class assignments & quizzes 40%
- Tests 40%
- Notebook 10%
PROCEDURES:
- Starting Class:
- Bring all necessary materials with you to class
- Sharpen all pencils & get materials out before the bell rings
- Begin warm-up activity posted as soon as the bell rings. You start class!!!
- During Class:
- No talking during announcements
- Remain quiet and attentive during teacher instruction
- Participate in class discussion with relevant thoughts and ideas. Raise hand if you have a question or comment and wait on teacher to call on you
- When I need your attention I will raise my hand and say “hey guys" - you freeze - turn and face me – pay attention, eyes on me -be ready for instruction – I will have something to say
3. Working in group
- Be respectful to everyone in your group
- All group members are expected to participate
- All group members are responsible for making sure classroom is the way you found it. Leaving the classroom not properly cleaned will result in a grade deduction.
4. Leaving seat
- Only when directed by the teacher
5. Leaving room
- Only with hall pass (school wide policy)
- Only if absolutely necessary. We are pretty self-sufficient in this building so you really shouldn't have to leave.
6. Turning in assignments
- Must include first and last name at the top of your paper.
- You can write in pen or pencil, but all work must be neat.
- All assignments must be turned into the appropriate bin on the front table unless I specifically ask you to turn it into me. Do NOT hand an assignment to me.
7. Leaving class
- We do NOT line up at the door at the end of class. With 2 minutes left in class, you may pack up your things. Remain in your seat until the bell rings.
8. Absences/Make-up work
- It is your responsibility to obtain make-up work. Check the file box for your class to get any missed handouts. You may get all of your missed assignments, handouts, PowerPoints, etc. on Canvas.
- You must schedule missed tests with me.

- 0 - 1 absence - 100
- 2 - 3 - 90
- 4 - 5 - 80
- 5 - 6 -70
- 7 - 8 -60
- more than 8 - 50
9. Miscellaneous
- Teacher’s desk is off limits unless given permission.
- No exam exemptions in vocational classes. All students are required to take the final exam.
- Any electronic devices (cell phones, ipods, etc.) must be turned OFF and out of sight during class. You may listen to music while we are doing independent work.
- Magazines – if you get a magazine out, make sure it goes back neatly and properly.
- You may have gum as long as I don’t see it or hear it.
- If you write on my desks, you will stay after school to clean all desks.
